Stephen's Backpacks Society

I started volunteering with Stephen’s Backpacks Society in 2015 when our daughter collected donations instead of gifts for her 7th birthday, and that’s how the relationship began with Stephen's.

Stephen’s Backpacks Society was started by a five year old boy in Airdrie, Alberta. With the support of generous donors from individuals, local community and various corporations, they have completely furnished homes over 34 families in need and delivered over 85,000 backpacks filled with necessities for school, personal hygiene, footwear and toys for kids in need.
I am proud member of the Board of Directors for this incredible, grass roots, non-for-profit organization. I volunteer my time filling backpacks, working on Four Seasons of Hope projects furnishing homes for families in need, along with providing design and photography skills whenever needed. I have also done graphic design projects, photography and created video for social media on their Four Seasons of Hope home.

Open4BizYYC
I created open4bizyyc on Instagram early in the pandemic (2019 - 2023), a place on social media to get updates on what's happening with our local, Calgary based small businesses. This included businesses such as restaurants, retail shops, artisans, collectives and farmer's markets. I was reposting and sharing as much information as possible to let Calgarians know which businesses were still open, offering products and services, and how businesses had adapted during this challenging time. Currently, open4bizyyc is on hold. I have some ideas how to give open4bizyyc a new twist, stay tuned..
